Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has expressed happiness that the team learnt their lesson after losing their first match against Mali.
This after the team trashed neighbours Namibia 4-0 at the African Cup on Nations on Sunday night at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, Ivory Coast.
Bafana opened their scoring when Percy Tau converted from the penalty spot in the 13th minute.
Midfielder and man of the match netted the second goal for Bafana in the 25th minute, before doubling the goals in the 40th minute.
Thapelo Maseko wrapped up proceedings in the 77th minute, by netting the fourth goal for Bafana Bafana.
“We knew that we have to win the game today (Sunday) to have some chances to go to the group stages.
So, we were a little bit nervous at the beginning of the game. But more certainly after we scored the first goal we were released.
We played a good game, we had a good analysis of the opponents,” said Broos.
The coach highlighted that recordings of the Mali match were shown to the players, where their weaknesses and strongest points were identified.
He said the results of this were evident on the results. Despite the win, the Belgian said it was not a good game.
“It may not the type of football played by south Africa.
The boy learned their lessons from the first match.
I’m very happy not only about the results.
But also, the way we played, because this was not south African football,” highlighted Broos.
Zwane said the win is a moral boost ahead of their next match.
“It means a lot to me to win a man of the match. I’m very happy that we managed to get a win today. We did well as a team,” explained the excited midfielder.
The team is now second in Group E with three points, and will face Tunisia on Wednesday evening in Korhogo, while Namibia will face Mali in San-Pedro.
