A commemoration service to honour the late ANC veteran Ronnie Mamoepa and an official launch of the Ronnie Mamoepa Foundation (RMF) will be held at the Freedom Park Memorial site on Wednesday 12 July, from 15:00 till 20:30, the foundation said in a statement.
Under the theme “Recommitting to the legacy of Ronny Mamoepa through social activism” the foundation said it ”aims to commemorate the remarkable work of Mamoepa, an esteemed struggle hero, defender of freedom and democracy, seasoned government spokesperson and a dedicated public servant”.
The Minister of Women and Children Dr Nkosazani Dlamini Zuma will lead the wreath-laying ceremony while Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi is also expected to attend.
“The Foundation finds Freedom Park to be the perfect partner in this initiative, being a revered cultural institution with a profound mandate to honour and memorialize the heroes and heroines of the struggle for freedom and humanity through storytelling and memorialisation.
“The launch event will witness the unveiling of the Wall of Names at Freedom Park, immortalising the name and legacy of Ronnie Mamoepa among the esteemed heroes and heroines who contributed to South Africa’s freedom”
