The North West acting Premier, Nono Maloyi said the government will not be setting aside any money for its “Thuntsha Lerole Programme” but it will be monitoring the implementation of infrastructure projects in local and provincial government.

“We are not setting anything aside. Different departments got budgets. They have a budget for these said projects. The unfortunate thing is more often than not that includes our municipalities by the way they are not spending this money so we are here to ensure that the money that has been allocated already is being spent on services delivery issues,” said Maloyi.

Maloyi and Madibeng Mayor Douglas Maimane visited areas in the Madibeng District to promote the campaign promising accelerated services delivery in the province.

Maimane said the local sphere of government will not be left behind saying they plan to improve revenue collecting and ensure accountability in the municipality.

“As I told you, we intend to install meters to enhance our revenue. That is the first thing. To bring financial discipline in terms of payment to service providers and also ensuring that there is accountability in the supply chain and in all facets of our own financial management system,” said Maimane.

Maloyi condemned the ANC Youth League for calling for the North West Premier Bushy Maape – said to be recuperating at home after a minor surgery – to vacate the office permanently.

“The call made by the Youth League is uncalled for. It is insensitive. It is uncultured. It is not part of the ANC culture because the ANC is a caring organisation. This Premier is a tried and tested leader of the African National Congress deployed by the ANC and it is only the ANC that will take a decision as to what should happen. But when a person is in bed as an African. We don’t behave in a manner in which the Youth League has behaved,” said Maloyi.
