The North West Government said it is optimistic that phase five of the provincial service delivery programme, Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded, will develop, strengthen sustainability and empower residents.

It said the recommencement of the programme will deepen the focus on improving water and electricity services, the state of housing and explore mechanisms to address the high unemployment rate amongst others.

According to the Chief Director of Communications in Office of the Premier, Brian Setswambung during an exclusive interview on YOU FM, the rollout of the programme will begin at the embattled Lichtenburg-based Ditsobotla Local Municipality.

“The plan was to commence with the programme in Rustenburg but there are factors that necessitated that we take it to Ditsobotla. It will take place on the 15th of August.  Our focus will be at that municipality to try and turn things around. There has been an outcry about the situation in Ditsobotla, and the provincial government wishes to dedicate some time to turn things around. We will announce another date for Rustenburg,” Setswambung explained.

He however indicated that the dates set for other districts will not change and that the programme will forge ahead as planned.

Setswambung highlighted that additional resources will be allocated towards this phase, to enhance the impact of Thuntsha Lerole on the lives of the people.

During previous engagements, Premier Lazarus Mokgosi emphasized the significance of the role played by this programme in ensuring that government “implements target orient solutions according to the specific needs of the various local municipalities.”

Meanwhile, Setswambung also told YOU FM that government will heed all suggestions and complaints raised during the feedback session of phase four of the project to better service the people of the North West.
