The City of Gold is bracing for a massive musical spectacle this weekend as global hip-hop superstar Travis Scott brings his Circus Maximus World Tour to FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Saturday, 11 October 2025.

With an expected crowd of up to 90,000 fans, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory, warning of major road closures and urging concert-goers to arrive early and plan ahead.

Concert Details

  • Date: Saturday, 11 October 2025
  • Time: 20:30 – 23:00
  • Gates Open: 16:00
  • Early Arrivals: From 09:00

VIP and hospitality ticket holders are advised to arrive well before showtime to avoid gridlock around the stadium precinct.

Road Closures (from 11:00 AM)

  • Soweto Highway – between Mentz Street and N1 Offramp
  • Golden Highway – between Ring 1 and Soweto Highway (authorised vehicles only)
  • Nasrec Road – between Recreation Road and Shaft 17 Road
  • Booysens Reserve Road – between Crownwood Road and League Avenue

Transport and Access

The JMPD is encouraging fans to avoid solo driving and instead use Park & Ride or public transport to reduce congestion.

Park & Ride locations include:
Sandton City • Melrose Arch • Montecasino • Mall of Africa • The Glen • Menlyn Park • Gold Reef City Casino • Clearwater Mall • Cresta • East Rand Mall • Greenstone • The Grove Mall • Centurion Mall

The Gautrain will operate additional trains and buses between Park Station and FNB Stadium, while ride-hailing services will have a dedicated Drop & Go zone near the venue.

JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla appealed to residents and fans to be patient and plan their movements carefully:

“We call on all concert-goers to travel early, use designated routes, and exercise patience before and after the event.”

Known for his explosive performances and genre-defining sound, Travis Scott remains one of the most influential artists in modern hip-hop. His chart-topping albums — Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), Astroworld (2018), and Utopia (2023) — all debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

Astroworld earned six-times platinum certification from the RIAA and spawned global hits like “Sicko Mode” and “goosebumps,” both of which achieved diamond status in the U.S.

With Johannesburg next on his world tour, fans can expect a high-energy showcase of lights, visuals, and the raw intensity that has made Travis Scott a cultural phenomenon.
