Travis Scott just reminded South Africa why he’s one of the biggest names in global music right now.
The Grammy-nominated rapper brought over 70,000 fans to a standstill at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday night during the South African leg of his blockbuster Circus Maximus World Tour — and not even a torrential downpour could stop the energy.
Despite delays caused by heavy rain, the atmosphere never dipped. Thousands of die-hard fans — mostly Gen Z and millennials — stayed locked in, raincoats and all, waiting for the Utopia hitmaker to take the stage. When he finally appeared, the stadium erupted into pure, controlled chaos.
“He gave us a show we’ll never forget,” said one fan after the performance, which featured explosive visuals, thunderous bass, and the kind of magnetic stage presence only La Flame can bring.
Social media exploded in the aftermath.
@HermaineM posted:
“Travis Scott overwhelmed by massive Johannesburg crowd at FNB Stadium!! Bro performed FE!N SIX times!”
Another user, @u_Nombulelo, gushed:
“South Africa really loves you. I’m sure everyone in JHB heard this performance because we all went wild.”
Even local stars joined the crowd. Artists like Young Stunna and Blxckie were spotted vibing along, clearly caught up in the energy of the moment.
The concert sparked playful online debates too, with fans comparing Travis’s spectacle to other international acts. One user joked:
“Can Drake ever do what Travis Scott did in South Africa?” – @dme_363
This marks Travis Scott’s second performance in South Africa, following his 2017 Birds Eye View Tour, which also drew huge crowds.
The Circus Maximus World Tour continues eastward, with Seoul, South Korea set to host Scott on October 25, followed by a stop in Saitama, Japan on November 8.
