“Mzansi to the world” continues to manifest into reality, as our musicians are celebrated internationally.

SA Pop sensation Tyla and Matorokisi hitmaker, Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona popularly known as Makhadzi made Mzansi proud at the 2024 BET Awards, held in Los Angeles, USA, on Sunday night.

Tyla, who won a Grammy earlier this year, secured the Best International Act and Best New Artist categories, while Makhadzi scooped the Best New International Act award.

The recent milestone, being Makhadzi’s first BET award, was an addition to her celebrations as it came on her 28th birthday.

“I’m so happy.

I started making and selling my music in the streets and today I’m here.

My dream came true.

All I can say is, ‘It’s possible black child, you can make it.

This is the best birthday ever,’’ said an elated Makhadzi.

Tyla showed gratitude to BET for doing the most for black artists, her fans the tigers and her family for supporting her.

“This is such a gift to be here.

I want to dedicate this one to Africa.

I want to dedicate this to all the African superstars before me that didn’t get these opportunities that I’m getting.

This is just amazing.

Africa to the world guys,” said Tyla in her acceptance speech.

Fans flooded social media with heartwarming congratulatory messages to the winners.

“Congratulations Tyla.

You represent Southy well,’’ commented @Pinky54054798 attaching the SA flag emoji.

@Malema_pk wrote “As someone from Limpopo I’m really proud of you @MakhadziSA.”

Newly appointed Sports, Arts and Culture Minister, Gayton Mckenzi is also amongst those who beamed with pride.

“Things are happening already.

Congratulations to both ladies.

We want to assure South Africans that we will not be a Ministry that will be content with congratulating artists and creatives only but will go out and unearth more Tyla’s and Makhadzi’s.

Help us find more future superstars,’’ posted Mckenzi on X.

The triumph of the two artists symbolise the growth and reception of the different genres Mzansi has to offer.
