No hope for talks-Africa for Palestine movement

The Africa for Palestine movement says there’s no hope of a negotiated settlement of the conflict without Israel largely because of the latter’s continued indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza Strip where more than three thousand civilians have already been killed and over a million displaced.

Shehryar Khan, an activist for the interest group said on the sidelines of a picket outside the Israeli embassy in Pretoria that pressure should be applied on the Zionist state to abandon what he says is a plot to massacre Palestinians so as to make way for more Israeli settlements.

“ They have only one agenda in mind and that is to wipe out the Palestinians from their own land. This colonial ideology must be stopped in today’s modern age, it must not be allowed, in Palestine or anywhere else,” said Khan.

Its quiet clear that the oppressor only believes in violence.

They have never came to the table or agreed to even the United Nations resolutions .

Khan says the Palestinian resistance movement in South Africa was grateful of the support shown by “progressive forces” including the EFF but was concerned that the right, most notably the DA and Patriotic Alliance openly supported Israel. The government also slammed Israel’a actions and called on the international community to act.

Khan believes Israel buys local right wing groupings for support.

He said “The DA was born from the National Party. Their stance has always been that of the national party which supplied apartheid South Africa nuclear arms to kill black people. They have not changed their stance. They were quick to jump in Ukraine yet when it comes to the Palestinians who have been oppressed for almost 75 years. They’re recently trying come across as taking a neutral stance. This unfortunately sides them with the oppressor and I guess that’s also where their funding comes from”.

Ahead of the ANC march, the EFF had announced a similar demonstration scheduled to take place on Monday at the same embassy in Pretoria.
