US rapper Snoop Dogg will be a torchbearer at the Paris Olympics ahead of the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, with over 10,000 athletes gathering on boats on the Seine River.

Beforehand, though, rapper Snoop Dogg will carry a torch through Paris suburb Saint-Denis, their mayor confirmed on X.  Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., will perform the honor on Friday, with French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar carrying the torch as well.

The 52-year-old Snoop Dogg will also contribute to NBC’s coverage of the Olympics, and detailed his love of the Games in a December statement to the network.

“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness,” he said.

The performer hails from the Los Angeles area, where the 2028 Olympics will be held. He showed his support for Team USA last month when he attended the track and field trials.

The rapper even got to run on the track in Eugene, Oregon and met with Sha’Carri Richardson before she sealed Olympic qualification. After Snoop Dogg carries the torch before the opening ceremony, Lebron James will be the flagbearer for Team USA. dailymail.co.uk
