Police in the North West are seeking the assistance of the public, following the burning of the equipment estimated to the amount of R3 million, at the Makwassie Stadium, near Wolmaranstad.

It is alleged that disgruntled attendees lit the stage, after Limpopo born singer, Makhadzi, did not pitch up.

“Reports suggest that attendees of the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival were unhappy when the lead singer did not pitch up and went on a rampage.

The stage and other equipment were burnt down to an estimated value of close to R3 million,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Adéle Myburgh.

She highlighted that investigations into the incident are underway and no arrests have been effected, and urged anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation to contact the police crime stop number.

Meanwhile on X a video of Makhadzi’s supposed lookalike emerged, where she can be seen performing the BET Award winner’s songs.

In a statement, Makhadzi Entertainment Team, acknowledged that the artist was reached out to perform at the festival, but the promoter known as Ismael, failed to pay the full appearance payment.

“On November 19, 2024, a contract was provided to the promoter, which specified that a 50% deposit must be received prior to any promotional activities on social media.

Additionally, the full payment was required 14 days before the event.

Following this agreement, a deposit has been received, along with an extra R3 000 for a promotional video.

Unfortunately, the promoter did not reach the agreement as per contract by failing to pay the balance within 14 days as agreed,” read a statement from her team.

Moreover, the statement said the team noted events that unfolded at the festival.

“Please note that Makhadzi and her travelling team are informed of events only after all payments have been confirmed, in accordance with the terms outlined in the contract.

We did not receive the balance within the 14 days period,” highlighted the statement.

The team added that it is looking forward to seeing the fans soon.

Disappointed revellers and fans went on social media to express their frustration and humour in the incident.

@Lebogang_ML wrote “They thought people won’t notice because tlabe ba tagetswe.”

“They don’t want Makhadzi from @shoptemu” commented @Monametsiii.

“The stage was literally ON FIRE! @karaboYakoena.

@IamOkuhle_ “Why bring Makhadzi Lite?”

“I’m not saying the violence was warranted but why bring out a Makhadzi from Temu? The organisers must take full responsibility,” commented @Thapz__
