Royal AM football club boss, Shauwn Mkhize has sought to apologise for the non-payment of the players December 2024 salaries. Through a statement shared across social media platforms, she described the situation as unfortunate also revealing that it has impacted the players, technical team, staff and their families.

Mkhize assured that they are committed to resolving the stand-off, as the KwaZulu-Natal based club is currently under curatorship after a preservation order obtained by the South African Revenue Service (SARS). “The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator Mr Jaco Venter, to secure the necessary permissions to release funds for salary payments. It has always been the ethos of Royal AM to prioritise the well-being of our personnel, and we remain dedicated to upholding that principle despite the current challenges,” read the statement.

The team’s current position follows last year’s raid conducted by SARS and the KwaZulu-Natal police at Mkhize’s Durban home due on allegations of tax evasion. Despite the current circumstances, the businesswoman adds that they remain optimistic that the crisis will be resolved timeously and vowed to provide the necessary updates as developments unfold.

Meanwhile, Chippa United has expressed disappointment over the postponement of their Betway Premiership match against Royal AM.The match was scheduled for Saturday 11 January 2025 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Eastern Cape. According to Chippa, the league did not furnish them with reasons behind the decision to suspend the game.
