President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe, where he is set to be the Guest of Honour at the Official Opening of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show. This annual event, a brainchild of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society, not only champions agricultural development but also aims to invigorate the national economy.

This year’s show is especially notable as it marks the 130th anniversary since its inception in 1895. With the theme “Building Bridges, Connecting Agriculture, Industry and Commerce,” the event promises to foster connections across various sectors, emphasising the vital relationship between agriculture and the broader economic landscape.

In 2024, the show witnessed an impressive participation of 570 exhibitors, including a significant representation from 13 international exhibitors, highlighting its growing appeal and importance. The Presidency has indicated that President Ramaphosa’s visit is also aimed at reinforcing the strong bonds between South Africa and Zimbabwe, particularly within the economic realm.

Moreover, this year’s Zimbabwe Agricultural Show is poised to promote intra-regional trade and enhance economic integration within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The event serves as a platform for stakeholders in agriculture, industry, and commerce to converge, share insights, and explore collaborative opportunities, thereby laying the groundwork for sustained economic growth.
