Orlando Pirates Abdeslam Ouaddou says his team’s target now is to win the last remaining titles, the Betway Premiership and the Nedbank Cup.
Ouaddou’s comments come after Buccaneers beat the All-Stars team 2-0 to secure the 2025 Carling Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
The victory ensured that Pirates claim their third trophy of the season, and the first PSL team to beat an All-Star team.
“When you work for Orlando Pirates, the mission is to win every game, it’s clear, I cannot be clear than that.
Every competition, the target is to win.
I think all that is going to be on the table, winning the league, Nedbank, all the competition, we are playing to win them.
We don’t have to hide, why hide, you need to show your card and to be able to challenge these competitions,” said Ouaddou.
Saturday’s victory comes a week after Pirates were crowned the 2025 Carling Knockout champions, after they beat Marumo Gallants 1-0 in the final at the Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane.
The All Stars were made up mainly of players from Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, although Siwelele, Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants each contributed a player for the final.
It was a lacklustre performance for the Buccaneers in the first, who were missing most of their regular players who are on duty for Bafana Bafana ahead of this month’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Pirates opened their scorecard in the 68th minute through one of Sifiso Luthuli, before Boitumelo Radiopane doubled the Buccaneers tally in the 80th minute.
“It was a difficult first half for us, because we played against the wind.
We didn’t manage to achieve what we wanted to do, building from the back, finding our free players in the middle.
I must congratulate the boys; they have been doing well with their achievements in the past four months, they’ve been winning.
We have now won three trophies, so it’s a big achievement for the boys, club, and we’re very happy for the fans who have been supporting us,” remarked the Moroccan-born coach.
Ouaddou says the target for the team now is to have a good rest as the season breaks due to the AFCON, and to continue where they left off when the league resumes next month.
