Florida’s lawmakers have greenlit a proposal to rechristen a major airport after President Donald Trump, marking another step in his ongoing efforts to imprint his name on prominent American landmarks.

The Republican-dominated state legislature passed a bill on Thursday to rename Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” according to official records. Governor Ron DeSantis, who previously clashed with Trump but has since aligned with him, is anticipated to approve the legislation.

Situated in the affluent Palm Beach area, famed for its pristine shores and opulent properties, the airport lies just a short drive from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. However, the name change will need final clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration.

This development adds to a growing list of institutions bearing Trump’s name. In December, the board of the Kennedy Center—a Washington, D.C., performing arts venue dedicated as a memorial to former President John F. Kennedy—voted to rebrand it as the “Trump-Kennedy Center,” with members largely appointed by Trump himself.

Media outlets have also reported Trump’s attempts to rename New York’s Penn Station and Washington’s Dulles International Airport after himself, though those proposals were rejected.

Additionally, the Treasury Department has acknowledged preliminary designs for a $1 commemorative coin featuring Trump’s likeness, intended for release despite federal statutes that typically bar images of living or current presidents on currency.
