The Gauteng Department of Education is facing delays in the issuing of June report cards due to technical challenges affecting its system.
The department has appealed for patience and apologised for delays in the distribution of learners’ report cards at certain public schools.
The disruption has been attributed to technical issues with the South African School Administration and Management System (SA-SAMS). This software streamlines school administration and provides data required by provincial departments to print report cards.
The Education MEC, Lebogang Maile, has assured the public that the matter is receiving urgent attention to ensure a swift resolution.
Maile said:
“On behalf of the Gauteng Department of Education, I extend my sincere apology to learners, parents, and school staff affected by this delay. We understand how important report cards are for tracking learner progress. They also help in planning for the academic term ahead.”
He also called on affected schools and parents to allow technical processes to conclude without compromising the integrity and accuracy of learner records.
“We are confident that the technical teams handling the matter will restore the system soon. We appreciate the patience shown by schools, learners, and parents as this process is being resolved,” Maile added.
The glitch comes two days before the end of the second term of the 2026 academic year.
The winter break will run from 26 June to 20 July 2026.
