The discovery of the body of an unidentified woman in Kempton Park has intensified concerns over a series of deaths involving women in the area, as the search continues for missing 38-year-old Elizabeth Moselakgomo.
The woman’s body was found in the York Street area on Saturday night, becoming the latest case to draw attention to the deaths of four women in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg, over the past two months.
Moselakgomo, also known as “Tsontso”, disappeared on Wednesday after leaving her home in Rhodesfield for an afternoon jog. She was last seen on Mustang Street.
Her family went to the scene after learning about the discovery of the unidentified woman’s body, hoping to establish whether it was Moselakgomo.
However, they were unable to make an identification because of the injuries sustained by the woman and the late hour.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the body is that of Moselakgomo.
The discovery has added to growing concern among residents and Moselakgomo’s family, while investigators work to establish the identity of the woman and determine whether the cases are connected.
The investigation remains ongoing.
