A farm owner in the Vorstershoop policing area of the Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality in the North West has been fined R250,000 for allegedly employing 23 suspected undocumented foreign nationals.
The 23 suspected foreign nationals, aged between 21 and 49, are expected to appear before the Ganyesa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 June 2026.
According to the provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Anne Magakoe, the arrests were made following an intelligence-driven operation conducted in the Vorstershoop policing area.
“During the operation, police intercepted a white Isuzu truck and a white Toyota Land Cruiser single cab on the R379 gravel road.
Several occupants fled into nearby farms, while the driver and the farmer were stopped.
Police requested that the farmer contact the individuals, who returned voluntarily for verification purposes,” said Magakoe.
Furthermore, Magakoe said that checks conducted in conjunction with the Department of Home Affairs in Ganyesa confirmed that the farm workers’ documents had expired or were invalid.
Meanwhile, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, warned that the SAPS remains committed to working with relevant stakeholders to enforce immigration laws and ensure compliance with South African legislation.
