Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla will face further court proceedings after the Durban High Court dismissed her application to have terrorism-related charges against her withdrawn.
The case centres on allegations that her social media posts amounted to incitement to commit terrorism and public violence.
During proceedings, defence Advocate Dali Mpofu challenged the State’s evidence, arguing that the prosecution had failed to establish the key elements required to sustain the charges.
Mpofu questioned whether the posts constituted unlawful incitement and alleged that Zuma-Sambudla was being targeted because of her surname.
However, State prosecutor Advocate Mayen Naidoo argued that the evidence was sufficient to proceed with the prosecution. He maintained that the repeated posts and the language used could be interpreted as encouraging violence.
The court ultimately dismissed the application to withdraw the charges.
Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, was charged last year and remains out on a warning.
The matter has been postponed until May 2027, when further court proceedings are expected to take place.
