ActionSA has recorded a significant increase in electoral support in the City of Tshwane, with party chairperson Michael Beaumont attributing the growth to the leadership and performance of outgoing Mayor Nasiphi Moya.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Midrand, Beaumont said ActionSA’s support had increased from 8% in the 2021 Local Government Elections to approximately 23% in the 2026 elections, with about 25% of votes counted at the time of the briefing.
Beaumont highlighted the party’s gains across several wards in Tshwane, noting that ActionSA had failed to secure a single ward in the city during the previous local government elections.
ActionSA Makes Gains Across Tshwane Wards
Beaumont listed several wards where ActionSA had secured victories, including Ward 3 in Atteridgeville, Ward 4 in Arcadia and Ward 7 in Atteridgeville.
The party also made gains in Mabopane, Soshanguve, Ga-Rankuwa, Mamelodi, Pretoria Central and Centurion.
Beaumont said the results represented a significant change from the party’s performance in the 2021 elections.
Nasiphi Moya Highlights Coalition Cooperation
Meanwhile, Moya said prioritising residents and maintaining cooperation among coalition partners had been central to her administration.
She said the 11 coalition representatives had agreed to put political differences aside and focus on the commitments they had made to Tshwane residents.
Moya emphasised that the coalition’s shared objective was to deliver on its promises to the people of the city, despite differences between the political parties involved.
She said the coalition had sought to avoid repeating the shortcomings of the previous administration, which she accused of abandoning residents.
DA Leads in Tshwane as Counting Continues
Despite ActionSA’s reported growth, the Democratic Alliance (DA) is currently ahead of the party in Tshwane, with more than 32% of the votes counted at the time of reporting.
The 2026 Local Government Election results remain subject to the Electoral Commission of South Africa’s final verification and announcement.
As counting continues, the results will determine the composition of Tshwane’s next municipal council and the political arrangements required to govern the city.
