Acting North West Premier Nono Maloyi has promised residents of Tswelelang outside Wolmaransstad, North West that he will ensure they have access to clean water and decent housing.

Maloyi spoke to residents while he was on the Thuntsha Lerole campaign, which aims to improve service delivery and ensure that North West communities have access to all the basic services such as water and electricity.

“Without water, you can’t survive, everything is about water. Water is a number one item on our agenda so we are going to do it without fail,” he said.

Maloyi also issued about 300 title deeds to the residents and said having a house was a constitutional right while pointing out that Tswelelang has a lot of houses that were left incomplete.

“Now the community of Makwassie Hills and Tswelelang… we are going to make sure that they get houses as well,” he said.

The residents welcomed Maloyi’s interventions and pleaded with him to speed up the service delivery process.

Maria Letsoalo from extension 17 in Tswelelang said she had applied for an RDP house four years ago and hoped for the North West government to build new houses and also complete the ones left unfinished by the contractor..

Another resident Molefi Molefe said they need the government to provide them with water.

“We were promised taps in our yards, I would like the Premier to look into that because we are struggling. We get water from Jojo tanks and it is not enough to cover the whole township,” she said.
