Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with head coach Molefi Ntseki following a tricky start to the season.
Amakhosi revealed on its official website that Ntseki’s contract had been terminated by mutual consent.
The decision comes after Chiefs’ exit in the Carling Knockout Cup after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of AmaZulu FC at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Ugly scenes followed the loss as angry club fans once again threw missiles at Ntseki.
Following a meeting on Monday morning, Molefi Ntseki’s tenure as Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs has ended amicably by mutual consent.
Given the recent run of disappointing results, the parties agreed that this was the best course of action under the prevailing circumstances.
“Cavin Johnson, who recently joined Chiefs as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the First Team coach on an interim basis,” the club said via a statement on Monday.
Ntseki was appointed as head coach of the Soweto giants at the start of the 2023/24 season, but results have not been forthcoming.
Meanwhile, Chiefs’ Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr expressed his appreciation to Ntseki and thanked him for all his efforts while with the side.
“I would like to thank Coach Ntseki for his contribution to the Club since he arrived here, both at development level and with the senior team, we wish him success in his future endeavours,” said Motaung Jr.
In the DStv Premiership, Chiefs currently occupy 8th spot on the log standings and are on 13 points after winning three of their nine games, the 53-year-old Ntseki also guided the team to the semi-finals of the MTN8.
