On Wednesday, Mthokozisi Thwala, the second witness who was in the house the night former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed, testified in the former keeper’s murder trial.

According to Thwala, an intruder with a gun entered the house and demanded cell phones and money; Longwe Twala stood up and pushed the gunman as he fled the house; Meyiwa and Tumelo Madlala then rose as Meyiwa began pushing the shooter into the kitchen. That is what Thwala claims he witnessed, but despite witnessing the shoving, he claims he is unable to explain how it occurred.

Thwala’s account contradicts what Madlala had told the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. According to Madlala, the accused burglar with the gun was pummeled on the kitchen floor by Zandi Khumalo and her mother, Gladness, who were using Madlala’s crutches.

According to Madlala, Meyiwa pressed the suspected second, taller invader against the wall just before the shot was fired.

Thwala, on the other hand, has told the court that the suspected intruder with whom Meyiwa struggled was the gunman, who Zandi and her mother were beating with Madlala’s crutches.

According to Madlala, the gunman was on the floor, which Thwala did not mention in his testimony despite the fact that it happened right in front of him as he stood next to the fridge in the kitchen at the time.

According to Madlala, just one of his crutches was used to assault the gunman on the floor, although Zandi and his mother utilized both crutches.

Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonnke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli were charged with Meyiwa’s murder in 2020, according to court documents.

They have entered not guilty pleas to the allegations. The trial continues.
