The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has announced fuel price decreases that will kick on Wednesday.
This is the fifth consecutive price drop since May.
“Petrol 93 Octane petrol will decrease by R 1.06 per litre. 95 Octane will decrease by R1.14 per litre. Diesel will decrease by R1.12 and R1.14 per litre. Illuminating paraffin at retail level will decrease by R1.48 per litre whilst LP gas will increase by 23 cents per kilogram,” said the department’s Director of fuel pricing, Robert Maake.
According to Maake, the reasons for these adjustments are the lower oil prices and stronger rand to the dollar during the period under review.
“The lower oil prices and stronger rand against the US dollar during the period under review. The fact that the slate levy remained unchanged at zero cents per litre in the price structures in both petrol and diesel,” explained Maake.
The fuel prices schedule for the different zones will be published on Tuesday.
