French football legend Thierry Henry is set to visit South Africa for Saturday’s highly anticipated Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium.

Betway, the title sponsor of the Premier Soccer League, announced that its global brand ambassador will attend the Betway Premiership clash on 31 October 2026.

Henry’s visit coincides with the PSL’s 30th anniversary celebrations, which are being marked under the ’96–’26 commemorative campaign.

The former Arsenal and France striker will also meet the winner of Betway’s S’bonise & Win campaign and present them with their prize.

The campaign rewards supporters who display their team loyalty through their colours and football regalia, with eligible Betway account holders standing a chance to win up to R30 000 in cash.

Betway Africa Head of Sponsorship Jason Shield says the Soweto Derby represents the passion, rivalry and support that make South African football special.

He says Henry’s presence, during the PSL’s 30th anniversary celebrations, will add to the occasion, while the campaign aims to put supporters at the centre of the experience.

Henry says he is looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere at FNB Stadium and meeting South African football supporters.

He adds that he understands the significance of the Soweto Derby, having experienced major football rivalries around the world.

The clash between the two Soweto giants is one of the headline fixtures on the 2026/27 Betway Premiership calendar.
