ANC Councillor at the City of Matlosana in the North West, Tebogo Sepale, has abandoned his bail application at the Orkney Magistrates Court. Sepale is facing 11 charges including statutory rape, manufacturing of pornographic material and sexual intimidation. Sepale’s Attorney Kobus Burger told the court that he will not give reasons why his client abandoned bail. It was a bittersweet moment today in the Potchefstroom Magistrates Court in the North West for Dipuo Kokolosi, a 48-year-old domestic worker who was mauled by three pit bulls belonging to her employers in January 2020 as they came face-to-face in court. Residents of Alabama outside of Klerksdorp in the North West are outraged by the malfunctioning sewage system which floods their streets with human waste and causes an unbearable stench. Kelebogile Dasoi said her house receives the sewer overflows from a stream of houses surrounding her. The family of Karabo Maluleke, the North West University student who went missing in May are reeling in shock after the body of their daughter – a third-year Psychology student – was found burnt beyond recognition in a field in Krugersdorp yesterday. Scores of angry and semi-naked women in Kanana, outside Orkney in the North West who claim the police are failing to investigate rampant incidents of rapes in their area marched to Arefenyeng Primary School where the police were having an anti GBV Imbizo. Non-Profit Organisations in the North West working with victims of Gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) are asking the government and police to work with them to end the scourge. This emerged during the three-day GBVF Summit organised by the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality in Klerksdorp. The North West Department of Public Works and Roads, says it hopes to address most of the challenges faced by the Expand Public Works Programme (EPWP) beneficiaries after they complete their three-year programme.
