Just a day following the reduction of load shedding from stage 6 to stage 3, Eskom has ramped up the rolling blackouts to stage 4 on Monday afternoon. The family of Bonolo Modiseemang, who was allegedly murdered by her aunt Segomotsi Agnes Setshwantsho to benefit from insurance payouts, want her to rot in jail. Setshwantsho’s bail application was postponed to 6 December by the Molopo Magistrates Court in Mahikeng North West. The 49-year-old Setshwantsho is facing a charge of murder, two of fraud and one of defeating the ends of justice. South Africans will spend the whole weekend in darkness as Eskom has implemented stage 6 of the rolling blackouts since midday on Friday and is expected to be in place until Monday morning. The Johannesburg Emergency Services, EMS, continues to appeal to traditional healers and prophets to prioritize safety when overseeing their congregants at river streams when performing cleansing or baptism ceremonies. The call comes after the recovery of man’s dead body at Kliprivier in Olifantsvlei, South of Johannesburg, on the 6th day of the search and rescue mission by the Aquatic Rescue Unit together with Police Divers. An investigation is underway following attempts of cheating by five grade 12 learners across different districts in the North West province. According to the provincial Department of Education, the candidates who were scheduled to write History paper 1 and Business studies were found with crib notes during a search before the examinations in different incidents. Five suspects aged between 39 and 51 were remanded in police custody by the Bafokeng Magistrates Court on Monday in the North West, and their matter was postponed to 20 November 2023. According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Simelani Jali 51, Mzukisi Jali 24, Lindile Mkhatswa 45, Amos Ndodana 48 and Thobile Kati aged 39 were arrested after attacking two Phokeng police officers in Freedom Park on Thursday. The Gauteng Department of Education will on Saturday evaluate the progress of the Safe School Campaign that was implemented under the Operation Khutla Molao, to fight violence, restore law and order in schools around the province. This will happen at a School Safety Indaba in Boksburg, hosted by MEC Matome Chiloane. A case against Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s former protectors has been postponed to 6 May 2024 by the Randburg Magistrates Court. The state requested that the matter be postponed to next year for trial.
