Magalies Water has sought to explain to residents of Ipelegeng and parts of Schweizer-Reneke at the Mamusa Local Municipality in the North West, reasons for the lack of water supply in their area. The family of one of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers killed in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, Lance Bombardier Itumeleng Moreo, said it is still trying to come to terms with his death. Family spokesperson and uncle, Jerry Moreo told Newsnote that it is difficult to accept his death considering the way he passed on, adding that they tried to communicate with him after news of the war broke out in the media. “His wife sent him messages and couldn’t get a response from him, so we started to get worried. One of the 14 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers killed in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) more than two weeks ago, Rifleman Derrick Maluleke, has been described as a brave and selfless soldier who died with his boots on. Eskom has slashed its diesel usage cutting it from R28.70 billion last year to R17.57 billion this month. The power utility has attributed this improvement to the stability of its system. “Year-to-date savings continue and have reached R17.57 billion. This is 61.2% less than the R28.70 billion spent last year and an improvement of R1.03 billion from the previous week,” said Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokoena. The Tlhabane Magistrates Court in Rustenburg has granted Dibueng Tshabang (38) and Rachel Mosito (51) R3 000 bail each following their arrest on Thursday on charges of defrauding the Lethabong Post Office over R600 000.
