As the ANC holds celebrations to commemorate a hundred days since the formation of the Government of National Unity, there’s mixed feelings about whether the coalition is holding as well as whether it was really serving the people of South Africa. Just a little over a week ago, a key player in the coalition, the Democratic Alliance, failed in a bid to replicate the arrangement in hung municipalities, a move that would have seen the party almost become the ANC’s exclusive ally while keeping the entire left out. The failure to secure a deal with the ANC resulted in the…

Newly elected Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane Dr Nasiphi Moya has vowed to hit the ground running in stabilising the metro’s finances and reducing service delivery backlog. Moya defeated the DA’s Celliers Brink with a huge margin of 122 to 86 votes marking an end to the DA’s 8 year reign in the capital which was marred by allegations of corruption as well as neglect of black communities. Moya who was backed by among others the ANC and the EFF as part of what is called the multiparty forum served as Brink’s deputy for just under two years…

Mbalula briefed the media at the party’s Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg just hours after his letter to Gauteng Provincial chairperson and Premier Panyaza Lesufi was leaked and circulated on social media. The leaked letter exposed a failed bid by Mbalula to reign in Lesufi whom according to internal sources easily fended off the attempt by “presenting facts”. Most embarrassing for Mbalula was the circulation o by EFF national spokesperson Sinawo Tambo, of another letter, penned by DA Chairperson of Federal…
