The Eastern Cape government said it’ll need more than R5 billion to repair damages caused by the recent devastating floods in that province. The North West Health Department and North West University (NWU) have signed a historic Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the establishment of the NWU Desmond Tutu School of Medicine at the Potchefstroom Campus. Two South African nationals who were released from detention in Equatorial Guinea following a Presidential Pardon, have arrived home. Peter Huxham and Frederic Potgieter were arrested in 2023 at a hotel in the capital Malabo, on drug related charges. They were subsequently sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment, but their families had vehemently maintained that the charges were trumped-up. The Gauteng Health Department has expressed concern over the increasing number of cases of measles in the province.
