Authorities in Limpopo are investigating the cause of the fatal accident that claimed the lives of six awaiting trial inmates and a police officer. The accident happened after a collision between a heavy motor vehicle and a police van, on the R101 road between Mokopane and Mookgophong in the Waterberg District. The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has sought to clarify that the comments by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) General Rudzani Maphwanya during his visit to Iran, do not represent the country’s foreign policy. Gauteng police have launched a manhunt, following the brutal killing of an e-hailing driver and injury to two other people outside the Maponya Mall in Soweto, in a suspected taxi violence related incident. The driver was shot, and torched inside his car by several attackers, believed to be taxi drivers from the taxi rank inside the mall. Another e-hailing driver and a passerby also sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, and the driver’s vehicle was also torched by the attackers. The Department of Home Affairs has opened a criminal case with the SAPS, following the torching of its offices in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, earlier today. Authorities in Ganyesa, North West, are investigating the death of a grade 10 learner from the Huhudi Secondary School. This after the 16-year-old collapsed after she was allegedly forced to run around the school premises as a punishment for arriving late to class. Nolusindiso Booi said she’s ready to lead the Springbok Women to the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup which kicks off in England next week. The 40-year-old Eastern Cape native was named to captain the team by head coach Swys de Bruin when he announced the squad in Johannesburg.
