Bafana Bafana have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after beating Rwanda 3-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Tuesday to top Group C. Bafana’s goals were scored by Thalente Mbatha, Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa. The team went into the match needing a win, and crossing their fingers that arch-rival Nigeria would halt Benin’s progress to the global showpiece. The country’s preparedness to rollout a new HIV prevention method, Lenacapavir, will be discussed today at the two-day multi-stakeholder meeting organised by the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), together with the Department of Health in Kempton Park. Lenacapavir is a long-acting antiretroviral medicine administered via injection twice a year and can be used as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to help reduce the risk of HIV infection in people who are HIV-negative. More than 150 have been left homeless after a fire destroyed about 70 shacks at the Sivillcon informal settlement, near Sefako Makgatho Drive in Derdepoort, Pretoria. According to the City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department, all residents managed to evacuate on time, and no injuries or fatalities were reported. The North West MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, has welcomed the arrest of five police officers for stock theft and possession of endangered animals. The three detectives are stationed in Vryburg and were granted bail of R1000 each by the Vryburg Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing four sheep belonging to a local farmer.
