The North West Legislature Portfolio Committee on Community Safety and Transport Management said it has adopted several resolutions with the aim of intervening in a persisting scholar transport payment crisis in the province. The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) in the Ekurhuleni Region, Gauteng, has vowed to do everything it can to defend over 300 Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) officers who are facing possible dismissal following allegations of illegal strike on 19th March. The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) in the North West has resolved to reaffirm its 12th National Congress’ decision to support the South African Communist Party (SACP)’s stance to contest elections independently from the ANC starting next year with the local government elections. The Legal Practice Council (LPC) has confirmed that senior council Adv. Dali Mpofu will now face four of the seven charges preferred against him after three other charges were dropped. The SAPS Detectives offices in Rustenburg, North West, have been shut down due to non-compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) standards. The Department of Labour in the province conducted an inspection on the building in the Rustenburg CBD and closed the office due to its “unacceptable inhabitable and working conditions” it was found in.
