The North West Provincial Executive Council (EXCO) has placed the Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality in the Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District under administration. The decision was taken by the Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs MEC Oageng Molapisi who also officially communicated the decision to the Municipality. The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) said that it will make a final decision whether to support the resolution of one of its alliance partners, South African Communist Party (SACP) to contest the 2026 local government elections independently from the ANC or remain supporting the alliance leader. Authorities at the City of Tshwane are investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed one bus, leaving another partially damaged, in the early hours of Tuesday. The City’s Emergency Services Department said it responded to the incident involving the two buses that were parked alongside WF Nkomo Street, in Pretoria West.
