The South African Policing Union (SAPU) has rejected Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s decision for two critical units within the South African police service (SAPS) to be disbanded. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has issued a notice of cancellation of registration of inactive political parties in the country. In a statement, the Commission said that it has informed 192 political parties of its intention to cancel their registration due to their inactive status and failure to renew their registration by the end of January this year. A 15-year-old learner is the latest victim of the ravaging floods that pummelled the Moretele Local Municipality in the North West over the past two weeks. According to authorities, the victim was swimming with six of his friends when he drowned in a flooded river at the Ruigtesloot village ward 1. The Moses Kotane Local Municipality in Mogwase near Sun City in the North West has elected Maria Matshaba as the new speaker. Mashaba was elected permanently during a council sitting held on Friday.
