African National Congress (ANC) leader, Thandi Modise, has warned people against boycotting elections and reminded them of the pain and sacrifices that ensured that democracy is attained. Mpho Galetshitse Former Rustenburg Local Municipality Speaker, Sheila Mabale-Huma, was elected the new executive mayor at the first council meeting of this new term at the Rustenburg Civic Centre on Monday. Mabale-Huma received 47 votes, while Papi Rangwaga of Tsogang Civic Movement secured 26 votes and Pieter Malan of the DA managed only 16 votes. The reason behind a spike in new positive COVID-19 cases in Gauteng has been traced to City of Tshwane and young people are currently the most affected. This is according to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service.
