Four suspected armed robbers were fatally wounded and another suspect was injured and arrested during a crime intelligence-driven operation in Yeoville, Johannesburg, early on Wednesday morning. Gauteng Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said the operation was carried out at around 05:30 after intelligence indicated that a group of suspects was allegedly involved in a series of armed robberies targeting travellers from OR Tambo International Airport. A female lawyer has been shot dead in the Johannesburg CBD after she was attacked while on her way to work on Monday morning. The incident occurred at the corner of Fox and Joubert streets near Gandhi Square at around 9am. Eyewitnesses told Newsnote that the woman was shot three times, including in the head. Her body was found lying a few metres from nearby offices before it was later removed from the scene. Former FBI director and special counsel Robert Mueller, who led the investigation into alleged links between Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia, has died at the age of 81.
