Postbank has given SASSA beneficiaries some reprieve, by extending the gold card migration to Postbank’s black cards within two months. The Gauteng Department of Health has urged ex-mine workers to register for possible social security benefits and medical surveillance. This initiative, which is in partnership with the Medical Bureau for Occupational Diseases and other stakeholders, aims to trace the ex-miners who may qualify for pensions due to them. Tuberculosis (TB) is considered a “silent killer”, with at least one person dying every hour from the disease in South Africa. This was revealed by Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi during the commemoration of World TB Day in Gamalakhe township, Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal.
