Botswana and Team South Africa delivered standout performances on the second and final day of the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, with both nations featuring prominently in the medal standings.

South Africa’s men’s 4×100m and 4×400m relay teams, both reigning world champions from China last year, secured silver medals in closely contested finals.

The men’s 4×100m squad produced a strong run to finish second behind the United States, setting a new African record of 37.49 seconds in the process.

In the men’s 4×400m relay final, hosts Botswana claimed gold on home soil, narrowly edging out South Africa in a thrilling finish.

The results underlined the growing strength of African sprinting on the global stage, with both nations producing competitive performances against some of the world’s best relay teams.
