Hugo Broos, announced his final 23-man roster for the team’s two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe next month.

Relebohile Mofokeng of the Orlando Pirates, Siyabonga Ngezana, a defender stationed in Romania, and Lyle Foster of Burnley are among the team’s notable additions.

On Friday, June 7, Bafana Bafana will take on the Nigerian Super Eagles in Uyo. Four days later, Bafana Bafana will play Zimbabwe at the Free State stadium in Bloemfontein.

The team also includes Patrick Maswanganyi of the Pirates, Elias Mokwana of Sekhukhune United, and Jayden Adams and Iqraam Rayners of Stellenbosch FC. This comes after Bafana Bafana made an impression in the North African nation in March during their FIFA series matches against Algeria and Andorra.

Percy Tau, the team talisman, rejoins the group following his exclusion from the FIFA series in Algeria. Lyle Foster rejoins the team as well. Due to mental health concerns, he was left off of the Bafana Bafana roster for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi are just two of the talented players from Nigeria that the South Africans will have to contend with. Unfortunately, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen will be out by injury. If Bafana plays to their greatest ability, Broos thinks they can defeat the Super Eagles.

The Bafana Bafana team will come together on Sunday and take a chartered jet to Nigeria on Wednesday.

The coach is praying for a team free of injuries and will be closely monitoring Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final in Mbombela between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
