Self-proclaimed political fixer Brown Mogotsi is set to make his fourth bail application after appearing in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
Mogotsi is facing multiple charges, including perjury, defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The charges relate to allegations that he staged his own assassination attempt in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg.
During Thursday’s proceedings, State prosecutor Advocate Thami Mpekana told the court that the State could not proceed with the matter because Mogotsi intends to apply for bail.
Mpekana said the bail application would be based on new facts.
“We have arranged the date on new facts for the 25th of August, this for bail on new facts,” Mpekana told the court.
Mogotsi has previously been denied bail, including by a different judge in the High Court.
His latest application is expected to be heard at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 25 August.
