Cape Town City have sacked Eric Tinkler as their head coach.

This as the club has struggled in the current Betway Premiership season, when compared to previous seasons.

“Cape Town City and head coach Eric Tinkler have mutually agreed to part ways.

The club expresses gratitude towards Eric for the last three seasons where he presided over 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishes. We wish Eric the very best for the future,” read a statement from the club.

Tinkler’s last game was a 1-0 loss to Amazulu over the weekend.

The club is currently in 12th place on the log, after 10 matches, won just three matches, drawn two and lost five to date.

The was the former Bafana Bafana player second stint at the club, after he joined them in 2016, and helped the club clinch the Telkom Knockout Cup in the same year.

The Citizens first game without Tinkler will be at home when they host Kaizer Chiefs in a league match on Sunday 5th January.

The club said it will announce a new interim coach soon.
