A loyal Kaizer Chiefs fan by the name Moshikaro Moagi, vowed to walk back home to Tzaneen, Limpopo if Chiefs lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.
He was captured holding a large placard at the FNB Stadium, in Soweto, where he wrote “If Sundowns beat us tonight, I will walk from JHB to Tzaneen,” with a big smile on his face.
According to google maps, the 407.4 km walk between the two destinations takes about 92 hours.
Unfortunately, Moagi was forced to deliver on his promise, after Sundowns thrashed Chiefs 4-0 eliminating them from the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday.
The dedicated Chiefs supporter documented his walk in a series of videos he posted on X, as proof that he wasn’t bluffing on his claim.
Despite the efforts to assure Mzansi of his walk, some did not buy his story.
“We don’t have evidence of him walking the whole journey.
He just shoots 2 minutes videos and thinks we will believe him.
I don’t trust him.”
“Cap. Probably hitch hiked to Polokwane, he got work tomorrow.”
“You can’t leave FNB at 20:30 to Limpopo then at 11:00 next day telling us you are passing Boyne (Moria) walking distance from JHB to Tzaneen is 6-8 days.
We are not kids hle, respect us,” read some of the comments on X.
This was just one of the extreme reactions from Chiefs fans on the day.
Videos and pictures of other fans in tears while others were fighting circulated on the socials.
Meanwhile, in a post-match interview, the team’s coach, Nasredinne Nabi apologized to the fans for the loss.
“I want to apologize to all the fans, nothing worked for us today.
But we would like to apologize to our beautiful fans.
We know they are waiting for a moment of joy for a long time.
We will go back and work harder to give them what they are expecting from us,” said Nabi. The team is looking to redeem itself in the Betway Premiership, where it currently occupies the 8th spot on the log.
