Kaizer Chiefs fans can breathe a sigh of relief, after the under pressure Naturena outfit beat a stubborn Magesi 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Betway Premiership on Saturday evening.

The win saw the Soweto giants register their back-to-back win this year, a 1-0 victory against Durban City last weekend, following a slump that saw them exit the Nedbank Cup and losses that saw them slip away in the title race.

Wandile Duba scored Chiefs first goal in the 32nd minute, and Amakhosi had to wait late in the second half when Mfundo Vilakazi sealed victory in the 84th minute.

The win sees Amakhosi move to fourth position in the log, while Dikwena tša Meetse troubles continue as they remain 16th in the log.

At the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, Stellenbosch returned to winning form, after they beat Chippa United 2-1.

Tshegofatso Mabasa scored a brace for Stellies, to ensure that the team registered their first win after three draws in the league.

The win sees Stellies climb to eight positions in the log.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba scored the Chilli Boys solitary goal Chippa’s solitary goal with just under 10 minutes of regulation time left.

The loss left Chippa in 13th place and suffered their 10th league loss of the season.

Meanwhile, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, AmaZulu’s rise to the top of the log continues, after they beat the host Polokwane City 1-0.

Substitute Thapelo Matlhoko scored his first for the club in the 87th minute, to ensure that Usuthu climbed to third position in the log, with a chance to qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup if they maintain the momentum.

The loss left Rise And Shine in third place and haven’t been able to register a win in their last three games.
