The President of South African Rainbow Alliance (SARA) Colleen Makhubele has resigned from the party and joined uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK).
Makhubele, who is also the former Congress of the People (COPE) member and speaker of the City of Joburg, formed SARA just before the May 29th general elections, but the party however performed badly during the polls.
Makhubele said the MK is the right party ?? of women and the youth.
“This therefore makes this giant leap that I’m taking today a great and historical step towards a role and responsibility that we, as young leaders of South Africa, especially women leaders in this generation must rise, be counted and volunteer ourselves to carry.
We must offer ourselves to carry on our shoulders the aspirations of our people.
As young women, we can no longer remain mute and watch from the side-lines of despair on all matters deeply affecting our country,” read a statement from Makhubele.
The former speaker said the MK party is the only one that can liberate the lives of black people and unite them.
“Without any fear or contradiction, we must acknowledge and accord the MK party its place in history as a serious organisation, intent on bringing a new style of leadership, science, and organised unity to black politics.
The entire nation and the continent of Africa are riding on the MK party to bring back respect for the dignity of an African in the 21st century.
The MK party has become a beacon of hope to unite and rally African leaders and their people and a barometer of African politics,” added the statement.
Makhubele is one of the high-profile politicians to join MK party, after former Economic Freedom Fighters Deputy President Floyd Shivambu and Mzwanele Manyi ditched the red berets for MK party.
