Sinesipho Dambile’s remarkable 2026 season continued in Brussels as the South African sprinter claimed silver in the men’s 200 metres at the Diamond League finals.
Dambile clocked 19.89 seconds to secure his latest major result, finishing behind American Kenneth Bednarek. His performance adds another highlight to a season in which the 24-year-old has emerged as one of South Africa’s leading sprint stars.
Earlier this year, the Eastern Cape-born athlete made history by becoming the first South African to win 200m gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Dambile also finished ahead of Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo in Brussels, marking the first time he has beaten the African sprint superstar.
Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba completed the podium in third.
While Dambile celebrated another milestone, Prudence Sekgodiso endured a difficult evening, finishing eighth in the women’s 800m final.
With his latest sub-20-second run, Dambile has continued to underline his growing status on the international athletics stage.
