Team South Africa delivered a memorable penultimate day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with athletes producing standout performances across multiple sporting codes and strengthening the country’s position on the medal standings.
The biggest moment came on the athletics track, where Sinesipho Dambile produced a stunning display of speed to win gold in the men’s 200m final. Dambile clocked an impressive 19.96 seconds, defeating Nigeria’s Udodi Onwuzurike and adding another major achievement to Team SA’s campaign.
Zakithi Nene also contributed to South Africa’s success, securing bronze in the men’s 400m final after finishing strongly in 45.21 seconds.
With one day of competition remaining, Team South Africa has collected 28 medals, including seven gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze, underlining the squad’s determination, consistency and competitive spirit on the international stage.
