Defending Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates will launch their 2026/27 title defence against newly promoted Milford FC when the new Premier Soccer League (PSL) season kicks off this weekend.
Pirates will host Milford FC at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, 1 August, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. The fixture forms part of the opening round of matches after the PSL confirmed the official calendar for the 2026/27 season.
The league campaign will run from 1 August 2026 until 22 May 2027. A further six Betway Premiership fixtures will be played during the opening weekend, although some clubs will use alternative venues because of venue-related challenges in parts of the country.
The PSL has also confirmed the dates for its domestic cup competitions. The MTN8 will begin on 8 August, with the final scheduled for 10 October 2026. The Motsepe Foundation Championship will kick off on 21 August, while the Carling Knockout will be played from 24 October to 9 December 2026.
The Nedbank Cup will start on 27 January 2027, with the final set for 1 May 2027. The season will conclude with the Promotion Play-offs, which will take place between 23 May and 9 June 2027.
Among the headline fixtures on the calendar is the Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, scheduled for 31 October 2026 and 13 March 2027. Other marquee fixtures include Kaizer Chiefs against Mamelodi Sundowns on 15 August 2026 and 6 February 2027, while Sundowns will face Pirates on 9 January and 24 April 2027.
The fixture list also features several regional derbies, including the Limpopo Derby, eThekwini Derby, uMhlathuze Derby, Mpumalanga Derby and Free State Derby, promising another exciting season of South African top-flight football.
