Permanent Stage 6 rolling blackouts are currently in effect. This, according to Eskom, is a result of two Camden units failing, as well as units at the power plants in Arnot, Hendrina, Lethabo, and Majuba. Also, due to a lack of coal, two of the producing units of the Lethabo station are not running. Due to the recent severe rains, the New Vaal Mine has been unable to provide the anticipated quantity of coal. At this time, there have been more than 21 megawatts of producing capacity lost to breakdowns.
