Former president and uMkhonto weSizwe Party leader Jacob Zuma was reportedly admitted to a hospital in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday night after falling ill.
Zuma was reportedly attending an event in Msinga, in the Midlands, when he became unwell.
He was then reportedly rushed to hospital by ambulance.
His condition is currently unknown.
The reported hospital admission has not yet been officially confirmed by Zuma’s family or the uMkhonto weSizwe Party. The Witness reported that an eyewitness at the hospital said Zuma arrived by ambulance and was admitted.
Zuma, 84, served as South Africa’s president from 2009 to 2018 and is currently the president of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.
MK Party spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu could not be reached for comment.
The party is campaigning ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
This is a developing story.
