Controversial former SAA Chairperson Dudu Myeni dies

The Jacob Zuma Foundation has confirmed that its Chairperson Dudu Myeni passed away on Friday night.

The foundation however did not disclose the cause of her death.

“The Foundation confirms with a heavy heart that its Chairperson, Ms. Dudu Myeni passed on last night. The family is still dealing with these sad developments and will not be entertaining any media enquiries. The foundation is requesting the media to respect the family position,” read a statement from the Foundation. 

The news was also confirmed by the foundation’s Spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi, who also echoed the family’s request for privacy. 

“It is indeed with a heavy heart to confirm that indeed the Chairperson of the foundation Dudu Myeni has passed on last night. The family is still grieving heavily and is requesting some privacy from the media,” said Manyi.

The Johannesburg High Court last month postponed her corruption charge against her postponed her corruption case to November, after she failed to appear before court due to ill health. 

The case relates to payments of R300 000 from Bosasa and its secondary company, Sondolo IT.

She was also unable to attend another court matter at the Richards Bay Magistrates Court, also due to ill health.
